"Land Of The Living" is a good "debut" (if you can talk about a debut with such a star studded line-up...) that is not groundbreaking, but should not disappoint fans of Melodic Rock. Melodic Rock most probably is the sub genre that has the highest percentage of “supergroups”, there always is one coming out, in the case of SHADOWMAN we get the FM singer Steve Overland, HEARTLAND guitarist Steve Morris, the THUNDER rhythm section Chris Childs and Harry James and as a guest musician on the title track a few horns by DEPARTURE’s Mike Walsh. So the ground is set, how does the musical sector of "Land Of The Living" look like?

Wildlife's second album (after the very average 'Burning' debut that was released on Chrysalis in '80) & a very welcome first time on CD. This realy is a very good album indeed & one of Steve Overlands best vocally. Not surprisingly, considering the lineup and producer, Wildlife come across as a mix between a less polished FM and a more commercial Bad Co. & you can hear loads of FM influences across this album, due of course to Steve Overlands fantastic voice, which is so unmistakable & Chris Overlands guitar sounds.

Sounds like … the album you wish Taylor Hicks had made, a modern-day blues and gospel hybrid recalling Marty Stuart, Buddy Miller, Jonny Lang, Southside Johnny, and Glenn Kaiser, with some Johnny Cash influence.At a glance … Salvation in Lights is a terrific blend of blues-rock and gospel standards, plus it doesn't hurt to have interesting arrangements, top-notch production, enjoyable originals, and a killer vocalist in Mike Farris (Double Trouble, Peaceful Knievel, The Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies).

This "concept" album related to an infamous rock'n'roll habit! Unfortunately the album sleeve didn't list the line-up, but it seems likely that Ken Hensley of Uriah Heep fame had a leading role. He recorded the Weed album during March 1971 in between the Uriah Heep albums Salisbury and Look At Yourself. Some members of the 1970/71 Virus line-up were also involved, Bernd Hohmann and Werner Monka at least and possibly their rhythm section as well.
